Taking the First Step
Change what you do to change what you get.
JUST DO IT. DON’T LET YOUR DREAMS BE (JUST) DREAMS. - Shia LeBeouf
First, you can’t go anywhere without knowing where you’re going.
Most businesses are helping people in some way, so who can you help? I want to help young men become successful in business, because that’s something I find great appeal in and have spent a lot of time studying.
If you’re having trouble figuring out what you can help other people with, ask the people you're closest with what they think your strengths are.
Alternatively, now is the time to put your mind to work. Block out an entire hour to just be silent and think. No distractions, and be ready to take notes, preferably on paper.
If an hour seems like too much time, just think about how easy it is to spend an hour on TikTok. Now which one of those will bring clarity to your life?
Now within the first couple seconds your mind is probably screaming. It hates being uncomfortable like this. It wants you to go back to the easy life of consuming.
This is normal.
This is the necessary pain in freeing your mind to be able to create. You must fight through this feeling and don’t give in. It’s going to feel downright boring, even fairly painful, at first.
Decide right now, you have consumed more than enough. Adding more information will only pollute your mind. But after committing your first thoughts to writing it will feel better than all the content you’ve consumed COMBINED.
The first moments of boredom you have to sit through are how to clear your mind of its constant desire to consume more and feel good.
It’s the crucial first step in transforming from a consumer to a creator. Your first ideas don’t need to be perfect or well spoken. They NEED to come out of you.
In our current culture, spending an hour in productive thought is a superpower. This is your secret weapon in creating value.
